Orly: Angel Eyes and a huge thank you!

Good Sunday morning guys!! I hope your weekend is going awesome! I had Saturday off but spent it bundled up indoors doing homework and watching the new Vampire Diaries episode, due to the small snow storm we got. I just can't believe how cold it is!!  Tonight I'll be going to work and trying to get done in time to see the new Sherlock episode!

Today I have a polish that is full of glittery goodness. I just hope my camera did it justice.

When I posted about Orly's Miss Conduct I said it came with a sister polish from the same collection in a duo pack, well here is that polish its called Angel Eyes.

This polish is a bright kind of sky blue jelly base. I say sky blue because it does look like the color of the sky on those summer mornings where its bright blue sky and no clouds in sight.

This blue polish is chock full of holographic glitter, who doesn't love that ?

I tried my best to pick up the glittery sparkle, but nothing would work. You can see the sparkle in the bottle thought.

The formula is like a normal glitter polish, it doesn't cover in one swipe, I did about three coats to get it opaque but I still felt like I had a bald spot or two only because I don't think I gave it enough time to dry in between coats.

I did notice that the more coats you add the thicker it looks on the nail.

I did add top coat to smooth everything out. I'm not usually one for blue polishes often because I'm afraid they will stain my nails, however I didn't see any immediate staining with this polish. And don't forget when you wear a glitter polish to use the tin foil method for removal. If you don't know what that is, I will try to do a post on it!

Orly is available I have found at Sally's Beauty Supply, TJMaxx ( where I got my duo set from), I've seen them at marshals and even CVS!

Okay so on to something that happened over this weekend. Saturday afternoon coming home from the a run to the store my email for the blog went off, so I checked it and saw that there were new likes to the My Nails. My Polish Facebook Page! And when I say a few I mean like over 100 new likes!! It took me by surprise because the last time I checked it which had been last week it was still at 46 likes, so to jump from 46 to at the time of this post 157 is crazy!!!

So I want to say a huge thank you to anyone who clicked the like button it means so much. I also want to give a shoutout to Adrianna of Mories Nail Art Blog because she was the one who made it possible. She shared my Facebook page. I love Adri she is seriously my best friend in this polish community and if you don't know her blog linked above you should!

Orly: Miss Conduct

Good Morning guys and dolls!! It is so so cold here this morning! Yesterday it didn't get higher than 9 degrees and it supposed to get into the low 20s today, needless to say I had to let my car warm up for at least 20 minutes this morning since I had to be at work at 7:30am!

Today I have a polish for you that I pickup in a duo set from Tj Maxx back over the summer. Its from Orly's 2012 Holiday Collection and it is called Miss Conduct.

It is a really pretty magenta jelly base with a beautiful scattered holographic effect.

I love when I can find these duos at Tj Maxx, normally the only place I can get Orly is at Sally Beauty Supply, but I don't always get to go there so when I do get to go to Tj Maxx I go straight to the beauty department to find if they have any awesome polishes.

If I remember correctly I paid $6.99 for this!

This polish is easy to apply, the formula is nice not too thin or thick and theres plenty of holo-y goodness in each layer the more you apply. I used two coats for opacity.

I think this photo has the best look at the scattered holographic effect.

The other polish that came in this duo was Angel Eye which is a blue jelly base with holo glitter, that will be up soon to follow!


Sorry this post is so short it just there wasn't any problems with this polish! The only problem was my camera not wanting to capture the holo effect. But thats what I get for taking photos at night instead of in the sun!

My very first Essie Polishes!

Hi everyone! Hope all is well!

Today for once I didn't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to go to work, I love having a Saturday off! What is even better is work is kind enough to give me next Saturday off too! Apparently the customer service gods are shining on me :)

Today I bring you my very first ever Essie Polishes! I have always love the brand, always ogled at them in drugstore when they started showing up there, but at $8 a pop I couldn't justify buying one, when $8 can buy me like 5 of a more cheaper drugstore brand polish. Maybe its the bottle size that is intimidating to me, I mean I have walked into beauty supply stores before and walked out with an OPI Polish and there about 50 cents to a dollar more, so why have I waited so long???

 Yup I dragged my mom out of the house at 11:30 this morning solely to go to Big Lots to find some discount polishes since the rumours are flying around that you can find some really decent polishes there now. The only thing I don't like about Big Lots or as my mother kept referring to it as "Odd Lots" is that not all of them have the same items, and some store won't get the overstock that another store does. With all intentions full steam ahead I went in and prayed I would be one of the lucky ones.

The outcome of my trip? FAIL! Not really any polishes at all! A few sets of obscure Revlon Colors that weren't that appealing and a few of the Sally Hansen Nail Pens but no huge bins of discount make up items to dig through :( I became a sad panda.

So I dragged my mom down the road to the next shopping plaza where I knew I would be somewhat successful. Its got a Sally's, Five Below, TJ Maxx and Kohl's, Walmart, Rue 21. One of these places or more were bound to have some polish I want. Now I know I said I was on a 'No Buy' but looking at the calender I did a successful month of no buys, I actually started July 15th. but didn't start talking about it till almost the 1st of August. Today is the 18th so exactly one month and 3 days!

Although I probably will go on another month of no buy now since I bought a few. That's what I do at least. Well unless the new L.E. Maybeline Fall Fashion Week Polishes come out....

Anyway enough rambling! On to the polish. These are the two beauties I picked up at TJ Maxx!

These are Raise Awareness (pastel pink) and Infatuation (darker pink)!. I believe they are in the salon bottles since the caps have a large lower case E on them and the names are on the bottom and they don't have the Essie name in the white label like we see in drug stores today. I snagged these lovelies for $3.29 a piece! Score!

Here is the manicure I created with them!

Pretty self explanatory, I think every nail polish lover and blogger has done a manicure like this. Each color is two coats both reach perfect opacity. When I got Raise Awareness I thought like every other pastel pink it would be streaky but it was not at all, and no brush drag either. Infatuation is like a nice berry pink that I don't have in my collection from any one else! These pictures were taken in sunlight with a top coat. Oh and I used my new base coat today too! How many of you use Orly Bonder??

Okay so that is for this post! I do think I will be buying more Essie in the future, my Walgreen's has pretty much a full stock of all the colors and I desperately want Marshmallow, and Penny Talk!

OPI Pros and Bronze

Happy Friday!!

Today I have a gorgeous polish from a Serena Williams Glam Slam Duo. I'm not sure if this was one of the first Glam Slam Duo's that was released but I'm glad I got it.

I found it at TJMaxx, my new mecca for spotting OPI polishes. Sometimes you can get really lucky and find some great deals! I think I'll stalk mine more often! In this duo pack you got Love Is a Racket, which I used in a Valentines Day inspired manicure and ( and obviously by the title.) Pros and Bronze.

I was unsure about how a copper polish would look on me and how it would mesh with my skin tone. I applied it first to my pinkie, to full opacity to see how it would look, and that way if I didn't like it I would just be able to take it off. As blogger though I thought I have to be thorough and wether I like it or not I had to wear it. I need to take myself out of comfort zone and try new ideas and colors.

Applying this polish is nice, 2-3 coats reaches full opacity and gives you tons of shimmer. Its easy to control, not runny like its compainon was for me.

This polish reminds me of a new pennies when you get them from the bank . The shimmer in this polish is what makes it interesting to me. Its not just the bronze in it, I detected gold shimmer and the occasion flash of lime green? Not going to lie here I really saw it!

The next few photos are with a flash and without. You kind of get a different look to it when you aren't shining light directly on this polish. Depending on the angle you hold your nails at, this polish almost looks a golden yellow. My camera didn't want to capture it though.

In the first photo of the three you can see the somewhat golden tones this polish gives off and in the pictures without the flash (I just noticed as I am typing this) looks like the cooper pots that have those little divets in them.

All in all I'm still unsure how much I really like this.  I'm going to say its a love/hate relationship. I think if I was paler it might be better.. but then if I was tanner I think it would look good too. I don't know!  I feel it doesn't mesh well with my skin tone but its workable. Does that even make sense? That whole paragraph was probably redundant.

Anyway, thats all for this post today! I think I'm going to start to work on some St. Patricks Day nail art even though I don't celebrate it, (not irish) :(.
