Fresh Paint: Passion Fruit.

Hi lovelies! Who's ready for the weekend??? I so am! Its my dads birthday so we will be celebrating at my house.

Today I have a pretty nail color for you guys. I think that this color falls under the color of the year Radiant Orchid.

Passion Fruit from Fresh Paint is a beautiful bright purple creme. Its almost florcesent but is not classified as a neon.

The formula is not bad. The first coat was streaky. Its a little runny but nothing that a clean up brush and some acetone can't fix. I used about three coats here to get a nice opaque-ness. The only other thing I noticed about this problem was that it did chip awfully fast. But don't hold that against this beautiful color. It could of been what I was doing at the time or if I missed a spot with top coat. 

So thats Passion Fruit for you! I'm sure there are different shades of this polish from other brands but nothing is coming to mind at the moment. I really like this kind of purple/pink color. I have a few lippies in this color. I think I'm going to try to find some more polishes or make up in this color!

Holy crap, Its my 3rd blogaversary!!?? Also its my 250th post!

Good afternoon lovelies!!! Its an exciting day here on the blog! Today My Nails. My Polish. turns three!!

I cannot believe that I have been blogging that long! I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you from all over the world who come to this little blog and take a look at it. It means so much to me. 

I have made so many friends in the nail polish/beauty community its been so incredible. I also want to say thank you for sticking with me even when I wasn't posting due to school or otherwise. I am hoping that in the future that I can put a lot of focus on this blog, I have come to realize that I love writing this blog and I love nail polish and makeup and all things girly and I find enjoyment by sharing my thoughts about it with all of you!

One other cool thing today is that this is my 250th post!! How cool is that?! 

So for today's post I have some nail art to share. Its not spectacular because I think I personally suck at nail art. However I wanted to do something, I originally planned a galaxy manicure but it came out looking horrid, so I attempted to redo it last night and the redo came out even worse. I think we can say I suffered through two disasticures! So I settled with do some bright nails in hopes that it would get spring here a little quicker. 

Its actually in the 40s today and sunny, I'm hoping it will stay this way! 

On to the manicure! 

I started off with painting my nails a base color of Honeydew from Fresh Paints, a brand that is available through Five Below. Like I have said in the past that their nail polish choices change up every so often so they may not have this color, or they may come out with a variation of this color later in the year. 

Honeydew is a bright neon pastel green.  It is streaky and takes about three coats to get a nice even coverage. Just make sure you let each coat dry so you avoid dragging and smudging of your nails! 

Then I took Nicole By OPI and created some dots for leopard spots. It has a nice contrast against the bright green and kind of makes me think about Summer and being outside and wearing bright colors. All the good things that come with warm weather. 

I even did a thumb accent nail too. My other hand didn't come out as well and I even debated about how much I liked this manicure. I almost took this one off too! Its slowly growing on me. I then topped everything off with a new quick dry top coat I bought from Jesse's Girl Cosmetics, its from Julie G.'s line called Jet Set. Its really nice, doesn't smear my designs and dries just as quick as Seche Vite.

Valentines inspired polish options!

Good Morning guys!! Guess what? Its snowing...AGAIN!! I swear we loose the snow then it comes back ten fold.

Did you know that Valentines Day is only 9 days away? I don't particularly like Valentines day, I just never have, maybe its because I haven't had a proper valentine, but you know, I am my own darn valentine! Plus who can pass up 75% off candy the next day?

But what I don't mind is  sporting a Valentines day manicure on the day. So in case you needed to know of some polishes that were V-day inspired, or just looking for new color to wear, or even in need of some inspiration, I have complied some options.

Lets take a look!!

The first polish I have to show you is OPI Charged Up Cherry, its a bright pink/fuchsia polish that isn't that sickly sweet light pink everyone associates with Valentines Day, its kind of on the darker spectrum.

Next up we have my absolute favorite red polish of all time, China Glaze Cranberry Splash. I know this came out in a Christmas Collection but it does scream love and romance to me! 

How about a polish that's name is as sweet as the polish looks, here is Queen Cupcake from Funky Fingers. I don't believe that you can get this polish anymore, but I would say use it as inspiration to find a color just like maybe?

If you want a polish that is the big 3 free and from a company that is pretty awesome, check out Zoya's Flora!

In this photo from 2012 I have it paired with a glitter that is also great for Valentines Day! Its called You Glitter Be Good To Me, from OPI! If you don't have this glitter or can't get to then OPI's Excuse Moi from the Muppet's Collection is another pink glitter that is awesome.

Here is another winner from OPI; Love is a Racket from the Serena Williams Collection.

Here I used it in a french manicure design from two years ago. Its a amazingly beautiful glass fleck polish. You can't tell here which is also when you can tell that my camera sucked. Anyhow this makes me want to wear it for this Valentines Day... We'll see! I also love the little white hearts I stamped on! (That was one of my first attempts at stamping ever!)

Lastly we have one last red polish. This one you know from one of my recent post. Its Wet 'n' Wild's Heatwave.

Now that we have normal polish choices covered, I also chose two texture polishes that are very much appropriate for the big love holiday!

From the Julie G. Frosted Gumdrop Collection we have Hot Cinnamon and Crushed Candy!

These will add just a bit more sparkle to your holiday! Plus the names I think are just adorable for this time of the year!!

A Fantastic Find from Five Below!

Hi lovelies!! I hope your Monday afternoon is going well. Its cold and windy here in New York, but at least its not bitterly cold.

I also ordered a couple text books for school today, I cannot believe school starts in a week as of tomorrow! This vacation has gone way too quickly!

Today's polish is a fun one! Back over the fall I took a trip to Five Below. If you haven't been to a Five Below or never heard of it,  it is a store that sells all kinds of products from beauty products to phone cases and even clothing! Plus everything is $5 or less!

In the beauty section a lot of the time Five Below has a deal on nail polish where you get three polishes for $5! Not a bad deal at all!

Only one polish caught my eye, and it is called Jawbreaker! It is a white milky crelly polish that is chalk full of different colored glitter!

This polish reminds me a lot of KB Shimmer 'Oh Splat'. I don't own that amazing polish however but one day I plan to own lots of indie polishes. I just need to get my tax refund first!

There is quite a lot of violet and blue glitter in this polish and occasionally you get bright red hex  glitter like on my ring finger and a bright yellow hex glitter that is also on my ring finger.

From looking at the bottle you can see all the colors of glitter mixed in. There is even teal in there! It took about three coats to get this polish to how I like a jelly sandwich to look. 

The drying time is about average for this polish and it dries smooth too boot! I didn't see any glitter bits sticking up and poking me as I wore this polish over the last four days or so. Once it did start chipping though is when I would get it caught in my hair, and at that point it just all peeled off in sheets anyway.

But considering the job I have where I am constantly using my fingers and banging them against a keyboard I can't say I don't blame the polish for chipping.

I really love this polish overall and would most certainly wear it over and over again because each time you don't know what array of glitter you will get!

45 Days Of Untrieds Day 14: Fresh Paint Alex's Lemonade!

Woot woot, two weeks into the challenge! I have so far really enjoyed this challenge, I like that fact that I have to have a blog post up every day. On the days where I haven't posted I have felt so horrible, I'm glad I'm finally back on track!

Today's polish is one you can only if you live on the East Coast, and live near a Five Below. Back in the middle to end of June I went to my local Five Below and wanted to get some nice bright pastel creme finish polishes. Today's polish is one of them.

If you follow me on Instagram, (and thank you if you do!) I uploaded a photo of today's polish with a black and white glitter topping it off.



The polish I am talking about is Alex's Lemonade, its made by the company Fresh Paint which is I believe is related to the mainstream nail polish company we know called Color Club.

I love this color and I definitely represents 'lemonade' to me. Its a pale yellow color but is a lot lighter than the other pale yellow I own.

With the first coat you can expect some streaky-ness but I used about three coats and one coat of top coat to even it all out. It is a thick kind of creme polish so you can have some unevenness but top coat can even it out. 

What I love most about this polish is that its scented! Yup, it is supposed to smell like lemonade but its hard to mask the smell of nail polish with some scents. I definitely can smell a sweet lemon drop scent when applying this polish and I can smell is lightly after top coat has been applied.

Summer Leopard Nails. Rawr!

I don't usually do a ton a free hand nail art. If you saw Monday's post you know that, that nail art has been by far my best and favorite. The reason why I don't usually do free hand nail art is because I'm not really to good at it. In the beginning when I started blogging and doing nail art I was loving it and learning everyday and then I fell out of doing it so I've lost some skill, but I am slowly bringing it back to the surface and I hope more free hand nail art is in my future!

Back almost two week ago I was getting ready to see my bestest of friends in the world. She was going to pick me up for a dinner date and some girl time. I suddenly felt the need to gussy myself up in the 85 degree weather we were having. So as I did a whole face of make up and tried not to sweat it all off as I put it on, I decided I needed to do my nails as well and I wanted something bright and fun.

I originally was going to stamp some pretty little images on my nails but the stamper didn't feel like picking up the image so I was stuck. What to do? Then I thought why not free hand some leopard spots. I have seen it done loads of times from tons of my blogger friends, I practically had the tutorial burned into my brain. So I went to work.

I started out with a base color on all my nails except my ring finger and thumb of Fresh Paint (which is sold at Five Below) in Coconut. Coconut is a creamy off white color that is opaque in two coats, but the best thing about it, is that it has a peachy undertone to it so it doesn't look stark on your hands, its blends with my skin tone nicely. On my ring and thumb fingers I painted two coats of Sally Hansen Coral Reef,  how come I have only just bought this color, I will never know. It is such a pretty bright corally pink.

Once my bases were dry I went to work on the spots. I took a toothpick and snipped off the end and filed it down to make a homemade dotting tool since mine had disappeared for the time being. I dipped it into Coconut and went about placing not too many random dots on my ring and thumb finger. Once that was done I took a fresh tooth pick and didn't snip the end off it and dipped it into some Wet 'n' Wild Black Crème polish and outlined my dots with some 'C' shapes and added a few tiny black dots to give it more dimension.

As you can see the second picture is of the famous "claw hand" so you can see my thumb.

All these photos were taken in natural light with no flash and yes there is a top coat on my nails. Coconut looks like it has more of a yellow undertone in the photos but I assure you in real life its more peachy. I am actually really proud of my nails here since it was the first time in months doing free hand. I got a few compliments on these nails and don't let the photo fool you these are nice and bright for the summer time.

If you want to get a hold of the Fresh Paint Polishes they are available at Five Below usually for 3/$5 or two bucks a piece I think. When I got Coconut they had quite a few bright pastel crèmes out, two of which will be on the blog later I am sure. You can get a hold of the Sally Hansen color Coral Reef wherever your Sally Hansen Polishes are sold. I got mine at Wal-Mart for I think $1.99.

Funky Fingers Pastel Swatches.

First off Happy Mothers Day to all the fabulous moms out there! I hope you all who are celebrating with your mom or if you are a mom are having a wonderful day! I too am spending the day with my mom. It was luck of the draw that I didn't have to work today even though they tried to make me!

Today I bring you swatches of some Funky Finger Polishes I picked up a few weeks ago at Five Below. I love that they do 3 for $5 polishes and 2 for $5 on there special ones ( usually crackles). I also found out from Alaina from The Little Canvas that the company that brings us Funky Fingers also brings us Color Club! How about that right?

So to start off there are three pastel colors that they have put out for the spring season. A lovely mint, baby pink and a lilac/lavender. All three of the pastels have a lovely gold shimmer that is very visible in the bottle. On the nail, well I get to that.

First up is the mint color called Mrs. Mint. Appropriately named this is the polish I had the worst time with. It is beyond streaky. Which is sad to say because its my first and only true mint color.

The formula is on the thin side, and can flood your cuticles easily. as you can see when  I tried to clean up my cuticles. When applying this polish you have let each coat dry practically completely or else you get major brush drag.

This is three coats, I can't remember if I put a top coat on for all the polishes or not. I'm going to say yes there is a top coat on these swatches though. Now for the bummer on the gold shimmer. I was so happy to see it in the bottle and then on the nail it gets lost. Unless you are in blinding sunlight you don't see it at all.

Next up is a favorite, mainly because of the name. The pink pastel is called Queen Cupcake.

This polish reminds me of Pink Friday by OPI or the Nicole by OPI Kardashian color. This polish is streaky as well but you don't have have each coat completely dry before adding another coat. A few minutes is more than enough and three coats is good for opacity. 

The last and final color is called Sugar Plum Fairy. Now I know that, the name is usually associated with Christmas, at least to me. I would of picked a different name for it. Out of the three though this had the best application. Yes the first coat is streaky but not nearly as bad as the previous two and its such a pretty lilac/lavender color that you could get a way with it all year round.

Two coats is good for this polish and the shimmer that isn't prevalent in Queen Cupcake and Mrs. Mint actually can be seen in this. The camera didn't pick it up but I could see it in real life.

Funky Fingers is available as I said in the beginning at Five Below. They always run specials for 3 for $5. It worth a trip in if you live near one.

NOTD: China Glaze Dress Me up with hearts!

Hi all! Happy Tuesday!

I hope all of you have been well. I know I haven't posted in about a week I believe, so glad to be back though. Lots went on over last week and this past weekend. My dad came home for a visit from taking care of his dad and on my dads first day back our dog Doby starting having problems.

Doby wasn't a young dog, he was old; around 11 years old, so that's 77 in dog years. I refer to him the past tense because as things progressed he got horribly worse. He wouldn't get up to go for walks or even to eat, yet when you looked at him he wagged his tail and still growled at the cats as they passed by. When he finally did get up we could tell his back legs weren't able to support him anymore. Doby was a big dog and when I say big I don't mean fat, he was a Black Lab, Rottweiler, and great Perinese all mixed in to one body. On Friday which also happened to be my dads birthday we finally had found a vet that would come to our house to put Doby to sleep. Friday was the worst day ever. In reality though it was a happy day because the dog would no longer be in pain and suffering. Even the vet that came to the house said putting him to sleep was the most humane thing to do, and it was the right thing. I will miss Doby terribly but he's always in my heart.

So glad I made it through that paragraph without crying!

Everyone is still adjusting to not having the dog around the house, even one of my cats is having a hard time but she is getting better. Today's manicure is dedicated to Doby in a way and its also the first manicure that I have actually been pleased with.

I started off with two coats of China Glaze's Dress Me Up from the Hunger Games Collection. This polish is a very nice neutral dusty rose pink creme. It could be opaque enough in one coat if you are on the go but two coats was good for me. This color definitely goes into my  ' wearable for work' colors.

For some odd reason I couldn't just leave this plain jane color alone. So I broke out Mrs. Mint from Funky Fingers and stamped some green hearts. Since the green hearts don't come out really opaque it looks like patter on fabric to me. I couldn't just stop there either I added the black dots to fill the void space around the hearts.

31 Day Challenge. Day 6 Violet Nails!

Happy Friday!!

Today is day 6 and it is time for my favorite color of nail polishes purple! So I have a ton of different purples and had to think about this one and see what I wanted to do. My original plan actually didn't work out the way I wanted it to but I did come up with something.

I love Five Below!

Hello lovely polish lovers!

So I start my vacation as of tonight at 10pm when I get off of work. I am so excited!!! I haven't done my vacation mani yet only because I'm still not sure on what I actually want to do. I know I said something about a coral color, but now I am unsure.

 I wore Digital Dawn for quite a few days, and towards the end I added black crackle polish which looked really neat with the glitter underneath. It was all shot down though when I went to work and it all chipped off, I guess working in a grocery store isnt the best place for a manicure that you actually like.

Anyway on to todays mani. As you can tell by the title I mention Five Below, which is a store that carries products from $3-$5. And what do you know they carry nail polish. Which I had no intentions of buying or even knew they sold it until my friend was like "Hey Nicole! Nail polish!" and for 3 for $5 I couldnt resist.

 So I picked up three polishes from their Funky Fingers brand plus one of their crackles. They had the standard black and white. They also had a hot shimmery magenta and a royal blue color I had never seen. Since crackles are kinda of becoming old news and everyone has some sort of one coming out I only picked out the black, since my China Glaze Black Mesh dried out. I also picked up Cheshire a lovely medium lavender color, Wild Child, an awesome greenish-teal color and a glitter called Sand and Stilettos. Sand and Stilettos is a two coat full coverage glitter that shines every color imaginable.

You will get to see both Cheshire and Sand and Stilettos in my mani today, so here are the pics!

So these were taken with my iPhone which can actually take decent pictures, but in this case it made Cheshire look blueish when it is not at all. Of course I also used my Nutra-nail base coat and China Glaze top coat.

 So until I decide what to wear on my nails for vaction...Thats all for today polish people!
